Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Computerized Tomography Scanner Technologist (CT) in the CT Department.

Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus up to $20,000 based on relevant years of experience.

As a Computerized Tomography Technologist, you will have the opportunity to experience new technologies, learn and perform advanced imaging skills, and participate in various aspects of research studies and clinical trials. The Computerized Tomography Scanner Technologist performs diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, applies principles of radiation protection, exercises professional judgment in the performance of imaging procedures, and provides necessary patient care during imaging procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Performs imaging duties as assigned
  2. Positions the patient to ensure proper image capture
  3. Selects appropriate technical factors
  4. Uses computer to record patient data
  5. Operates all technical equipment proficiently
  6. Assists physicians in performing imaging studies
  7. Prepares contrast media for administration and assists the physician
  8. Maintains technical imaging equipment
  9. Reports equipment malfunctions or housekeeping issues
  10. Keeps work area clean and organized
  11. Maintains inventory of supplies

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of formal Radiology technology training in an AMA-approved program
  • Effective communication and patient care skills
  • Current ARRT registry within 12 months of hire
  • Advanced CT certification (including new graduates)
  • State licensure by Illinois (IEMA)
  • CPR certification
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association
