Job summary

TRA Medical Imaging is seeking a dedicated X-ray Technologist for the Diagnostic Imaging Northwest locations in Puyallup, WA. You will perform diagnostic radiologic exams per ARRT standards, assist radiologists, and ensure patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

  • ARRT registered or registry-eligible.
  • Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to perform various exams including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Strong patient focus and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment and safety protocols.
  • Professional judgment, critical thinking, and ethics.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in line with company vision and values.
  • Explain procedures and obtain patient history.
  • Assist Radiologist during fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Set up and operate radiographic/fluoroscopy equipment; position patients and capture images.
  • Complete examinations promptly with high positioning accuracy.
  • Adhere to exam protocols and ALARA; use lead aprons and thyroid collars.
  • Travel to TRA offices (Tacoma, Puyallup, Lakewood, Olympia) as needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and complete Modality Worksheets.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and team members.
  • Maintain clean, stocked work areas and participate in training.

Job Summary

This X-ray Technologist performs diagnostic radiologic exams in accordance with ARRT standards and ethics, following company policies and regulatory changes while ensuring patient and physician needs are met. The role reports to the Site Manager and Radiologist.

Pay and Benefits

Pay: $30.99 - $52.69 per hour, based on experience, skills, and abilities. Eligible for up to $3,000 sign‑on bonus.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide patient care in line with company vision and values
  • Explain procedures and obtain patient history
  • Assist Radiologist during fluoroscopic procedures
  • Set up and operate radiographic/fluoroscopy equipment, position patients accurately, and capture diagnostic images
  • Complete examinations promptly with high positioning accuracy
  • Adhere to exam protocols and ensure safety using lead aprons, thyroid collars, and ALARA principle
  • Assist with positioning wheelchair and pediatric patients
  • Complete Modality Worksheet and maintain accurate patient records
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and team members
  • Perform required computer tasks for patient exams
  • Maintain clean and stocked work and exam areas
  • Participate in orientation and in‑service training
  • Demonstrate professional demeanor and confidentiality
  • Show punctuality and minimal absences
  • Apply IV principles within scope
  • Collaborate with coworkers for efficient workflow
  • Use proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Travel to TRA offices (Tacoma, Puyallup, Lakewood, Olympia) as needed
  • Serve as liaison among patients, radiologists, and support team
  • Assist with special diagnostic procedures
  • Document patient care and flow procedures
  • Maintain quality control and notify manager of issues
  • Restock supplies proactively and maintain safe environment
  • Attend monthly technical staff meetings
  • Comply with radiation safety standards and badge monitoring program
  • Check work email daily
Qualifications
  • ARRT® registered or registry‑eligible
  • Valid Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Ability to perform various exams, including pediatric and geriatric cases
  • Strong patient focus and adaptability
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology
  • Familiarity with medical equipment and safety protocols
  • Professional judgment, critical thinking, and sound ethics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational and time‑management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and carry out instructions effectively
  • Excellent customer service skills using AIDET/4 As
Physical Requirements

Moderate physical demands; ability to assist patients of varying weight, stand/walk/sit for extended periods, reach, and manual dexterity for equipment operation.

Mental Requirements

High attention to detail; manage stressful situations; maintain confidentiality.

Working/Environmental Conditions

Normal office or administrative conditions with occasional exposure to communicable diseases and limited ionizing radiation. Duties may include mandatory tasks outside listed responsibilities.
