Job summary

The City of Winchester, Virginia Local Government is seeking a supervisor for the wastewater facility to oversee daily operations and maintenance on a shift basis. You will supervise staff, perform equipment checks, and make adjustments to ensure efficient and economical treatment.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, five years of related experience, a valid Virginia Class 1 Wastewater Works Operators License, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, plus five years' related experience in wastewater treatment.
• Possession of a valid Class 1 Wastewater Works Operators License (Virginia).
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the continuous operation and maintenance of the facility and subordinate personnel on an assigned shift.
• M ake operational checks on equipment and perform necessary tasks to correct any problems encountered.
• Make determination of chemical adjustment necessary for efficient and economical treatment.
• Assist with or perform equipment maintenance.
• Perform general housekeeping duties which include floor maintenance, washing windows, painting, mowing grass, trimming hedges, containing weeds, cleaning equipment.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required and five years of related experience and/or training in a wastewater treatment facility.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Possession of a valid and appropriate driver's license. Possession of a valid Class 1 Wastewater Works Operators License from the State of Virginia, Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
