Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA in Somerset County, NJ is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor who delivers engaging swimming sessions, prioritizes safety, and builds positive relationships with members.

Responsibilities include greeting participants, maintaining clean facilities, enforcing YMCA values, attending trainings, and helping grow class participation. Requires HS diploma and YSL/WSI certifications, Bloodborne Pathogens, and YMCA staff training within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• 1+ experience in teaching Swim Lessons
• Proven track-record in attracting and retaining new clients/participants
• HS diploma or equivalent and required certifications (YSL/WSI, Bloodborne Pathogens)

Responsibilities

• Engages all members/participants in a professional and courteous manner
• Greet/say hello to all participants and learn their names
• Listen and be accessible to all members for questions and comments
• Follow-up as needed
• Engages members on new classes, new changes, etc.
• Maintains proper functioning/cleanliness and/or reports malfunctions
• Redirects members on cell phones to front lobby
• Adheres to YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
• Attends trainings, seminars and meetings as required
• Arrives to work five minutes before shift starts
• Wear appropriate and professional uniform
• All other duties as assigned
