ORGANIC CHEMISTRY TEACHING ASSISTANT

Support Organic Chemistry labs by preparing materials, guiding students, and upholding lab safety. Ideal for students with strong lab skills, attention to detail, and a passion for chemistry.

Responsibilities And Career Competencies
  • Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, communicate schedule changes in advance, and wear appropriate attire – P
  • Assist with lab set-up, including making standard solutions and unknowns; operate lab instrumentation independently – TW, CT, T
  • Assist students and answer questions during lab; support inclusivity in a diverse setting – C, CT, L, CTR
  • Manage databases for the chemistry department – CT, T
  • Modify or create handouts for chemistry classes – C, CT, T, P
  • Type information, concepts, and formulas to assist students – C, CT, T, P
  • Cleaning of glassware in the chemistry laboratories. – TW, P, CSD
  • Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, communicate schedule changes in advance, and wear appropriate attire – P
  • Assist with lab set-up, including making standard solutions and unknowns; operate lab instrumentation independently – TW, CT, T
  • Assist students and answer questions during lab; Foster a collaborative environment that values individuals from varied perspectives – C, CT, L, CTR
  • Create highly engaging PowerPoint slides, including embedded media and animation – T, CT, C
  • Ensure all safety regulations are followed by students and self – P, L, CT
  • Ensure the lab is clean and the equipment is returned and powered off after sessions – C, TW, L
  • Provide clerical support, proofreading, photocopying, and filing; assist with projects as assigned – TW
  • Prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines successfully – P, L
  • Effectively communicate your skills and availability in your application – CSD
  • Perform other duties as determined by the supervisor – P, TW
