University of Pikeville is seeking a Communications Teaching Assistant to support the department with clerical tasks, course materials, and research assistance. The TA will handle proofreading, filing, and data compilation, while assisting faculty and students in classroom settings.

Qualifications

  • Experience with clerical tasks and academic support is preferred.

  • Familiarity with APA style is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality including FERPA, with punctuality and schedule communication.
  • Provide clerical support such as proofreading, photocopying, filing, and projects.
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written form, following APA style.
  • Use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and compile data using software.
  • Assist development of course resources and guide students using available resources.
  • Work independently, manage deadlines, and monitor exams in class.

Assist the Communication program with clerical, academic, and research support duties. Maintain confidentiality, support projects, and provide classroom assistance as needed.

Responsibilities And Career Competencies
  • Maintain confidentiality including FERPA, be punctual, and communicate schedule changes in advance – L, P
  • Provide clerical support including proofreading, photocopying, filing, and assigned projects – TW
  • Use superior verbal and written communication, especially APA writing style – C, CT
  • Use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and compile data using software programs – T
  • Assist with development of course resources – T, C, CT
  • Work independently and efficiently; guide students using available resources – CT, P, L
  • Prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines – L, CT
  • Be available to assist in class as a TA, including monitoring exams – L, P, CT
  • Dress appropriately for the work environment – P
  • Monitor and post to social media accounts – P, T, CSD
  • Grade assignments as directed by faculty, -- T, CT, P, CTR
