Qualifications

  • Experience editing technical or regulatory documentation; strong grammar, technical style, and document structure.
  • Experience working with SMEs in highly regulated environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and document control tools.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • DOE Q security clearance eligibility required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing required.

Responsibilities

  • Editing, formatting, and quality-checking Safety Basis documents, including DSAs, TSRs, Hazard Analyses, and Safety Evaluation Reports.
  • Ensuring documents comply with applicable DOE orders, standards, and site-specific requirements; improve clarity and consistency without altering technical intent.
  • Apply and enforce document standards, templates, style guides, and configuration management; coordinate with authors and engineers to resolve comments.
  • Support internal reviews, audits, and readiness activities by preparing documents for approval and submittal; track revisions, manage comment resolution, and maintain version control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring Safety Basis documents are clear, consistent, compliant, and ready for internal and external review.
  • Editing, formatting, and quality-checking Safety Basis documents, including but not limited to Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs), Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs), Hazard Analyses and supporting calculations, and Safety Evaluation Reports and change packages.
  • ensuring documents comply with applicable DOE orders, standards, and site-specific requirements (e.g., DOE O 420.1, 10 CFR 830); improve clarity, organization, and consistency of highly technical material without altering technical intent.
  • Apply and enforce document standards, templates, style guides, and configuration management requirements; coordinate with authors, engineers, and nuclear safety analysts to resolve comments and improve document quality.
  • Support internal reviews, audits, and readiness activities by preparing documents for approval and submittal; and track revisions, manage comment resolution, and maintain version control.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, Physical Science, Social Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 6-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience editing technical or regulatory documentation; strong command of grammar, technical style, and document structure.(required)
  • Experience working with SMEs in highly regulated environments.(required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and document control tools.(required)
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship. (required)
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & LOCATION DETAILS:
  • Experience editing DOE Safety Basis documents (DSA, TSR, USQ-related documentation)
  • Familiarity with configuration management and formal document review processes.
  • Experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE) or nuclear industry programs is highly desirable; prior Department of Defense (DoD) experience is also preferred.
  • Active DOE Q clearance
