Job summary

COMPA Industries is recruiting a Writer/Editor 3 for LANL-focused Safety Basis documentation. The role emphasizes editing and organizing highly technical content for internal DOE review, with remote work predominating and occasional on-site in Los Alamos or Santa Fe, NM.

The candidate will collaborate with engineers and nuclear safety analysts to ensure accurate, compliant documents (DSAs, TSRs, and related reports) while maintaining strict document control and adherence to DOE orders and site

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, journalism, technical communication, or a physical or social science, with 6–8 years of experience.
• Experience editing and comparing redline documents.
• Strong remote communication with timely coordination with authors.
• Technical editing of technical or regulatory documentation.
• Strong grammar, technical style, and document structure.
• Experience with subject matter experts in highly regulated environments.
• Proficiency with MS Word and document control tools.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Edit, format, and quality-check Safety Basis documents (DSAs, TSRs, Hazard Analyses, and related reports).
• Ensure compliance with DOE orders, standards, and site requirements (DOE O 420.1, 10 CFR 830).
• Improve clarity and organization without altering technical intent.
• Apply document standards, templates, style guides, and configuration management.
• Edit and compare redline documents and coordinate with authors and engineers to resolve comments.
• Support internal reviews, audits, and readiness activities for approvals and submissions.
• Track revisions, manage comment resolution, and maintain version control.
