Job summary

La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, CA seeks a Junior Varsity Assistant Wrestling Coach for the 2026-2027 season. Responsibilities include supporting student-athlete development, scheduling practices and games, and ensuring academic priority.

The role requires prior wrestling coaching experience, adherence to NFHS and CIF conduct codes, and the ability to mentor youth while maintaining school policies. Salary is a seasonal stipend with fall/winter/spring coaching cycles.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental skills and techniques for the sport.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach, enforce, advocate for, and model appropriate student-athlete behavior and sportsmanship.
• Follow NFHS and CIF Coach Codes of Conduct.
• Prior coaching/teaching experience with youth is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand academics are priority for student-athletes.
• Monitor academic performance of team members.
• Develop team rules and communicate them to players and parents.
• Provide practice, tournament, and game schedules.
• Communicate schedule changes promptly.
• Be on time and prepared for practices and games.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance.
• Encourage students to perform their best.
• Enforce all school and team rules equally.
• Be professional in actions and words.
• Create a positive team environment and clearly define roles.
• Explain all NFHS, CIF, and SDUHSD rules to players and parents.
• Return parent calls/emails promptly and communicate injuries promptly.
