Qualifications

• Demonstrate the ability to teach, enforce, advocate for, and model appropriate behavior and educational values for student-athletes.
• Demonstrate the ability to follow NFHS and CIF Coaches Codes of Conduct.
• Prior experience in the sport is required; experience working with youth is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand that academics are priority
• Be alert to student-athletes' academic performance
• Develop team rules and expectations and communicate with team and parents
• Provide schedules for practices, tournaments and games
• Communicate schedule changes in a timely manner
• Be on time and prepared for all practices and games
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance
• Encourage student-athletes to do their best
• Apply school and team rules to all student-athletes
• Be professional in all actions and words
• Create a positive environment for the team
• Communicate with student-athletes about their role on the team
• Explain NFHS/CIF/SDUHSD rules to student-athletes and parents
• Return parent phone calls/emails promptly
• Communicate with parents about injuries when trainer absent
• Explain vacation/absence policy
• Allow time for make-up tests due to athletic commitments
• Turn in keys for off-campus walk-on coaches to get paid
• Obtain permission from Athletic Director to use district facilities out of season
• Maintain CIF HOME and MAX PREP stats
• Input Schedule into Arbiter if required
• Adhere to CIF Dead Period during summer
