Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions in Hamden, CT is seeking a Process Engineering Technician - Wrapping to support wrapping manufacturing assets and processes while building the knowledge and skills needed to become a future technical resource for the site. You will collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production to resolve recurring issues.

You will assist with setup, trials, tooling changes, process qualifications, and operator training, while contributing to safety and 5S.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or manufacturing tech, or equivalent training.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with interest in manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, manuals, drawings, and specs.
• Collect accurate information and use a logical, step-by-step approach to problem solving.
• Basic computer skills including Excel and Word.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn from experienced personnel and progressively assume responsibility.
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and support other shifts.

Responsibilities

• Support daily setup, operation, and troubleshooting of wrapping machines.
• Learn equipment, materials, product constructions, setup methods, and issues.
• Assist with process adjustments, setup consistency, quality concerns, and scrap reduction.
• Collect machine settings, speed, downtime, setup time, scrap, and quality results.
• Document problems, support root-cause investigations, and verify corrective actions.
• Assist with process trials, new product runs, tooling changes, improvements, and qualifications.
• Create and update setup sheets, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, visual standards, and training materials.
• Train operators on setup methods, process standards, inspection requirements, and basic troubleshooting.
• Support 5S, tooling control, workplace organization, and safe practices in wrapping area.
• Complete improvement projects and communicate progress to Process Engineering.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required (10%).
