Job summary

The Orono, Maine WPCF is seeking applicants for the entry level position of Wastewater Laborer. The role supports operation of the wastewater treatment facility, pump stations, collection system and solids handling facilities. Schedule is 4 days / 40 hours per week with Health Insurance, Dental and eye care, paid vacation and holidays.

Pay range is $22.42 - $30.78 per hour, with Maine Public Employees Retirement System participation. On-call duties rotate among staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively and be respectful with the general public.
• Mechanical knowledge of machinery and equipment.
• Knowledge of basic computer applications.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other staff.
• Ability to work safely with equipment and machinery in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine Laboratory duties for process control

• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance activities of the sanitary sewer collection system
• Assist in the clearing of vegetation from sewer right of ways and other ground maintenance
