Job summary

The Orono WPCF is seeking an entry level Wastewater Laborer to support operation of the wastewater treatment facility, pump stations, collection system and solids handling facilities.

Duties include lab tasks for process control, equipment maintenance, sewer cleaning, vegetation clearance, and rotating on-call duties. Four 10-hour days weekly; pay range $22.42–$30.78 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Must communicate effectively with the public and be respectful.
• Mechanical knowledge of machinery and equipment.
• Familiarity with basic computer applications.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
• Ability to work safely with equipment in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine Laboratory duties for process control.
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of plant and pump station equipment.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of the sanitary sewer collection system.
• Assist in clearing vegetation from sewer right of ways and other ground maintenance.
• Will be required to handle on-call duties with other staff members on a rotating basis.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned.
