Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Wound Closure and Healing R&D Device Summer Intern to join the Ethicon Biosurgery team in Raritan, NJ for May to August 2027. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week internship focuses on prototype devices, CAD drawings, and lab testing within an innovative surgical tech environment.

You will assist engineers, perform mechanical and lab testing, create CAD drawings in SolidWorks, and document methods and protocols while communicating findings to the team.

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Bio-engineering, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• Knowledge of CAD Software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Knowledge statistics preferred.
• Knowledge of 3D printing or other prototyping methods preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Generally Requires 0-2 Years Work Experience.
• No certifications/licenses required.

Responsibilities

• Attend team meetings as necessary.
• Perform necessary mechanical and laboratory testing, and post-testing analysis.
• Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
• Assist in assembly of prototype devices.
• Create/Update parts, assemblies and drawings in CAD (SolidWorks).
• Write reports, test methods, protocols and other design control documentation.
• Complete engineering activities for multiple projects.
• Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties assigned as needed.
