Job summary

Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center (LTACH & ARU) seeks a knowledgeable RN to lead the facility wound care program and provide direct patient care alongside staff nurses. You will consult with physicians, educate staff, and drive wound care improvement across the hospital.

The role focuses on developing standard wound care protocols, evaluating wounds, and supporting CMS quality data reporting. Requires California? (Note: actual licensure per Texas).

Qualifications

• RN license required and current state license.
• BSN preferred.
• BLS required.
• 1-3 years of licensed nursing experience in acute care.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements the facility wound care program with standardization, protocols, and documentation tools.
• Establishes standards of care, policies, and procedures for wound care across clinical staff.
• Acts as primary consultant to Wound Care Clinicians and advises staff and physicians.
• Provides ongoing education to staff on wound care products and practices.
• Evaluates wounds on admission and during care to guide treatment plans.
• Provides consultation on pressure injuries and non-healing wounds.
• Assists in developing care plans for comprehensive wound management with physicians.
• Reviews medical records to ensure proper wound assessment and documentation.
• Participates in root cause analyses and improvement initiatives.
• Contributes to CMS data reporting related to wound care.
