Job summary

The Alden Network seeks a skilled nurse to lead wound care services at our Illinois facility. You will supervise registered or licensed practical nurses, oversee wound care procedures, and ensure treatment plans align with physician orders.

Responsibilities include wound assessment, staff education on prevention, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Strong leadership and communication are essential to support residents and families.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in Illinois.
• Must possess a current CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment.
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Demonstrates interest and/or knowledge in aged care.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, family, personnel and public.
• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Must have a personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful attitude.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the nurses, CNAs and other IDT members ensuring wound care treatments and protocols are followed.
• Directly supervise wound technicians on wound care protocols.
• Assess and document wound status and skin care; administer or assist with wound treatments as ordered by the physician.
• Review treatment orders for completeness and accuracy; transcription of physician orders.
• Complete weekly skin reports and share findings with nurse consultant and pharmacy.
• Educate facility staff on pressure ulcer prevention and wound care best practices.
• Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services needed for wound care as ordered by the physician.
• Communicate wound progress and changes to the family and attending physician; update the care plan as needed.
• Participate in development and maintenance of the facility’s Quality Assurance program for wound care.
