Job summary

Regency at Westland in Westland, MI is seeking a Wound Care Nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate wound care for residents in a skilled nursing setting. This role promotes skin health, healing, and prevention of wounds while ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will supervise the Treatment Nurse, coordinate staffing, and provide education on wound prevention and management to residents, families, and staff. Michigan licensure and current wound care certification are required.

Qualifications

• At least two years' experience working in wound care preferred.
• Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse with required state licensure.
• Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
• Current Wound Care certification required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Treatment Nurse as per scope of practice.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work in alignment with resident needs and staff capabilities.
• Prepares work assignments, adjusting for staffing levels and resident safety.
• Receives staffing-related calls and arranges replacements as needed.
• Completes performance evaluations and provides input on hiring, disciplining, or terminating staff.
• Adjusts break schedules and resolves staff concerns.
• Oversee unit operations during absence of higher-level management.
• Use independent judgment in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Description

The Wound Care Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wound care treatment programs for residents within the skilled nursing facility. This role ensures compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations while promoting optimal skin health, healing, and prevention of pressure injuries and other wounds. The Wound Care Nurse serves as a clinical resource, educator, and advocate for residents, families, and staff regarding wound prevention and management.
