Job summary

ScionHealth in San Diego seeks a Wound Care Nurse to manage the wound care program, deliver direct patient care, and support nursing staff. You will implement standards of care, train staff, and act as a clinical consultant across the hospital.

The role requires evaluating wounds, coordinating with physicians, and contributing to CMS data reporting while adhering to national guidelines. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• RN license in good standing with the state.
• BSN preferred for this role.
• Professional certification WOCN CWS, or WCC, or obtain within 12 months of employment.
• BLS required.
• 1-3 years of licensed professional nursing experience in acute care.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains the facility wound care program per national standards.
• Establishes standards of care, competencies, policies and procedures for wound care staff.
• Acts as primary consultant to Wound Care Clinicians and supports staff and physicians.
• Provides ongoing education to staff on wound care products and practices.
• Evaluates wounds at admission and during care to guide treatment plans.
• Consults on pressure injuries and non-healing wounds, collaborating with physicians.
• Assists in developing care plans and communicates changes to wound orders.
• Reviews medical records to ensure proper wound assessments and documentation.
• Participates in RCA and action planning for adverse wound events.
• Supports CMS wound-related data reporting and cost-effective formulary management.
• Aids in training new Wound Care Coordinators.
