Job summary

Ascension Saint Joseph Chicago is seeking an experienced RN to spearhead a new wound care program, establishing standardized care protocols and leading quality improvement to reduce readmissions.

You will train RN units on advanced wound assessment, staging, dressing selection, and prevention, delivering hands-on wound care during rollout. Later, you will provide complex clinical consultation and coordinate care with physicians and case management for smooth transitions.

Qualifications

• RN licensure (Illinois Board of Nursing) required.
• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• Wound care certification from NAWCCB preferred.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead and launch the wound care program as SME to standardize care protocols and lead quality initiatives.
• Train and mentor floor nurses on advanced wound assessment, staging, dressing selection, and prevention strategies.
• Deliver hands-on wound care during rollout, transitioning to complex clinical consultation and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Manage patient care plans and discharge planning, developing targeted education for post-acute transitions and self-care empowerment.
