Job Summary:
AMC Medical Consulting, LLC is seeking experienced and highly skilled Wound Care Coders to join our team. The Wound Care Coder will be responsible for accurately coding specializing in wound care and other related areas. The ideal candidate should possess advanced knowledge of coding systems, medical terminology, and anatomy, as well as a strong commitment to maintaining coding accuracy and compliance in a healthcare setting. Must reside in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, or South Carolina. Knowledge and Understanding of LCD, and LCA rules are not optional. This is a remote work opportunity.
Qualifications:
- Coding Specialist (CCS) certification issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in coding, with knowledge of outpatient, inpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home visit specialty cases within an integrated acute care teaching setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, pathophysiology, surgical terminology, and pharmacology, with the ability to apply these sciences to assign accurate codes.
- Expert knowledge in coding of wound care
- Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems, G-codes, HCPCS codes, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and modifiers,
- Expertise in coding workflow and technology optimization, including electronic health information records and health information management and billing systems.
- Excellent communication and reading comprehension skills.
- Strong analytical aptitude with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with remote workforce operations required.
- Strong sense of ethics.
- Previous coding experience in Wound Care preferred, but can train the right candidate with other specialty coding experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Coding and Sequencing:
- Accurately assign and sequence diagnosis codes using ICD-10-CM for outpatient accounts, specializing in wound care, GI, Pain Clinic, Radiation Oncology, and other related areas.
- Follow guidance from Coding Clinic and ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines.
- Utilization of Coding Products:
- Utilize 3M coding products, including encoder and groupers, for Medicare reimbursement, third-party payors, internal Advocate business, and quality purposes.
- Clinical and Non-Clinical Information Abstraction:
- Accurately abstract selected clinical and non-clinical information for billing, data management, and reporting purposes.
- Review all patient record documentation for code assignment accuracy and completeness.
- Coding Productivity and Quality:
- Maintain a productivity rate of 100% or more on a monthly basis with a 95% quality standard.
- Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT codes for various specialty areas, including wound care, high-cost drugs, GI, Pain Clinic, and Infusion Therapy.
- Compliance and Education:
- Ensure coding compliance with federal, state, and regulatory agencies.
- Attend educational seminars and in-services to meet continuing education requirements.
- Stay updated on changes affecting coding and reimbursement methodologies through periodicals and literature.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Participate in monthly coding meetings as required.
- Promote patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives.
- Safeguard confidential and privileged patient information.
