Job Summary and Qualifications

As a remote coder, part of our outpatient coding team, you will work on alerts/edits for same-day surgery, observation, wound care, emergency, and diagnostic accounts, mainly post-initial/final coding. You will perform alert/edit resolution activities in relevant systems, following established procedures and thresholds.

What you will do:

• Compile daily work lists from eRequest, CRT, and other systems.
• Enter detailed notes in eRequest for unresolved or rerouted alerts/edits.
• Escalate issues to minimize billing delays.
• Prioritize aged accounts and report to leadership.
• Collaborate with billing, revenue integrity, and Medicare Service Center teams.
• Communicate coding revisions.
• Complete MOCK abstracts when necessary.
• Assist in resolving unbilled reason codes/Hold Reasons.
• Periodically perform Coding Integrity Specialist II duties as needed.
• Review individual work with managers, discuss progress, and training needs.

Qualified candidates will possess:

• At least 2 years of outpatient hospital coding experience in acute care, observation, or same-day surgery.
• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS certification is strongly preferred.
• Associates or Bachelors in HIM/HIT preferred.
