Job summary

Waypoint Church in San Mateo, CA seeks a Director of Music and Worship to lead a contemporary Sunday service with gifted vocal and instrumental leadership. The candidate will shape worship experiences, oversee tech teams, and mentor youth musicians in a faith-centered environment.

The role offers flexibility between full-time and part-time schedules, with potential expansion into additional ministry areas for the right candidate. A collaborative, Christ-centered team culture is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Strong vocal talent and proficiency in at least keyboard and/or guitar.
• Experience with audio mixing technology and ProPresenter 7.

Responsibilities

• Worship leadership: Plan, organize, and lead music for weekly services and special events.
• Team development: Recruit, train, lead, manage, and shepherd volunteer musicians, vocalists, and tech team members.
• Media & production: Oversee A/V team, livestream, and related hardware/software.
• Creative excellence: Introduce new songs while respecting the church's DNA and culture.
• Youth mentorship: Mentor youth band members in musicianship and leadership.
• Administration: Prepare weekly orders of worship, manage equipment, and report song usage.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with staff to achieve ministry goals.
