Qualifications

  • 3 years Experience in violence prevention, de-escalation, crisis management, or a related field within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in training program development and facilitation, preferably in workplace violence prevention, conflict resolution, or de-escalation techniques.
  • Certification as a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Implement violence prevention programs focusing on evidence-based strategies.
  • Deliver specialized training for security personnel, including conflict resolution.
  • Develop and manage training materials to support continuous education.
  • Conduct incident debriefings following workplace violence events.
  • Collaborate with experts to integrate best practices into initiatives.
  • Participate in the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee.

Work Schedule

100% FTE; Day Shift. Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

Job Description

Be part of something remarkable: Provide security staff with the skills to detect potential threats and implement effective workplace safety interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Implement workplace violence prevention programs with a focus on evidence based de‑escalation strategies for both clinical and non‑clinical healthcare employees.
  • Deliver specialized training for security personnel, including advanced de‑escalation techniques, conflict resolution skills, and appropriate use of control and intervention strategies.
  • Develop, update, and manage training materials—presentations, handouts, e‑learning modules, and job aids—to support continuous workforce education.
  • Conduct incident debriefings following workplace violence events and create actionable improvement plans to enhance future responses.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to ensure best practices and regulatory compliance are integrated into prevention initiatives.
  • Actively participate in the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, presenting data, program activities, progress updates, and strategic recommendations.

  • Experience working with or training security officers. Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor certification (Crisis Prevention Institute) within 6 months. Required
