Job summary

Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) invites applications for a Workforce Development Instructor – Automotive Technology. This per diem instructor position is hired on an annual contract basis to develop and deliver automotive technology courses.

Qualifications include 5–7 years as an automotive technician, PA State Vehicle Safety and Emissions Inspection and NATEF certifications, PennDOT instructor certification, and PA Act 15 clearances; Master-level certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging classroom, lab, and hands-on instruction in automotive technology.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced automotive concepts, including diagnostics and safety.
  • Demonstrate proper use of automotive tools, equipment, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
  • Provide students with hands-on activities to build industry-relevant skills.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely feedback on skills and performance.
  • Maintain attendance, assessment, and progress records; ensure safety and college policies.

Job Summary: The Workforce Development (WFD) Instructor – Automotive Technology Automotive Technology Instructors are per diem instructors hired to teach on an annual contract basis. Develop and deliver Workforce Development course offerings specific to the Automotive Industry.

Minimum Qualifications:

5 - 7 years of experience in the Automotive industry as a Technician (or combination of education and experience). Required certifications: PA State Vehicle Safety and Emissions Inspection and NATEF.

For inspection and emission classes, PennDOT instructor certification for inspection and emissions.

Licensing Requirements: Please note that all teaching faculty are required to comply with PA Act 15. You will need to present completed clearances and training certificates at the time of hire. Hiring Range:Varies

Preferred Qualifications: Master-level Automotive Technician certified.

  • Collaborate with Workforce Development staff and industry partners to ensure training meets workforce and employer needs. - (Essential)
  • Assist with curriculum development and recommend updates based on changes in automotive technology and industry standards - (Essential)
  • Support students in developing employability skills, professionalism, communication, teamwork, and workplace safety. - (Essential)
  • Maintain current knowledge of automotive repair technologies, diagnostic systems, tools, and industry practices. - (Essential)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned - (Standard)
