Workforce Development, Training & Transitional Support Coordinator

Position Summary
This cross-functional position strengthens the development, preparedness, and ongoing support of Houston Strong Children Services interns, employees, case management team, foster families, and youth transitioning toward independence.
The Coordinator connects workforce development, training, internship coordination, program support, and transitional services. This highly collaborative role requires strong organization, communication, relationship-building, training, and follow-through.
Workforce Development & Employee Onboarding
- Coordinate new-employee onboarding, orientation schedules, checklists, training requirements, introductions, and agency resources.
- Maintain workforce-development trackers and coordinate 30-, 60-, and 90-day support activities.
- Help develop professional-development opportunities and career pathways that strengthen employee skills and retention.
Training Coordination & Development
- Coordinate agency training for staff, interns, foster families, and other participants.
- Maintain training calendars, registrations, materials, attendance, completion records, and reminders.
- Develop presentations, guides, checklists, handouts, learning resources, and an organized training library.
- Gather feedback and help evaluate training effectiveness and recurring learning needs.
FutureForce Internship Program Support
- Coordinate intern onboarding, orientation, schedules, departmental assignments, mentors, training records, and program documentation.
- Conduct routine check-ins and coordinate professional-development and career-readiness activities.
- Track internship hours, evaluations, university requirements, and completion milestones.
- Support professional portfolios, resumes, interview preparation, career goals, and intern-to-employment pathways.
Program, Family & Youth Support
- Support onboarding and training for case managers while maintaining role boundaries around supervision and clinical decisions.
- Coordinate foster-parent pre-service and ongoing training, resources, attendance, and follow-up.
- Help youth pursue education, employment, housing, financial literacy, wellness, and independent-living goals.
- Facilitate life-skills and workforce-readiness workshops and connect youth with employers, schools, vocational programs, and community resources.
Documentation, Improvement & Partnerships
- Maintain accurate training, onboarding, internship, and workforce-development records while protecting confidential information.
- Gather participant feedback and improve procedures, templates, orientation processes, and support resources.
- Build relationships with universities, employers, workforce organizations, training providers, and community partners.
- Represent Houston Strong at approved career fairs, educational activities, and workforce-development events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, education, business administration, organizational leadership, human resources, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant experience in training, onboarding, internship coordination, social services, child welfare, workforce development, youth development, foster care, or program coordination.
- Strong organization, communication, facilitation, relationship-building, documentation, confidentiality, and project-management skills.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, virtual meeting platforms, and organizational tracking systems.
Work Environment & Additional Requirements
- Hybrid flexibility may be available based on agency needs.
- Local travel and occasional evening or weekend training and events may be required.
- Valid Texas driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance when travel is required.
- Successful completion of required background checks, agency screening, orientation, and training.
