Position Summary
The Placement Coordinator plays a vital role in the early stages of foster care and adoption, serving as a first point of contact for families and agencies. This position screens referrals, coordinates placements, and manages intake documentation from DFPS, Juvenile Probation, and other entities.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and able to combine administrative precision with a commitment to service.
Referral & Placement Coordination
- Screen and process placement referrals and match children with families equipped to meet their needs.
- Coordinate intake documentation, background checks, and assessments.
- Maintain daily Child Vacancy Database updates and enter placement data into CLASS within 24 hours.
- Participate in matching meetings, advocate for families, and provide orientation and follow-up visits for newly placed children.
Administrative & Program Support
- Organize files, correspondence, reports, client records, and documentation.
- Schedule meetings, coordinate logistics, and support department staff.
- Help ensure foster homes meet regulatory standards.
Community Engagement & Compliance
- Build relationships with donors, providers, community partners, vendors, venues, and families.
- Plan and support promotional activities, placement-related events, and community representation.
- Meet documentation deadlines, respond promptly to referrals, track referral statistics, and implement corrective actions when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus 9 credit hours in family or individual interaction and 2 years in a child-placing agency; or a high school diploma/GED and 3 years in a child-placing agency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and multi-project management skills.
- Preferred: treatment-service experience with children with emotional disorders, residential-care experience, and familiarity with social-service delivery.
