Job summary

SUNY Oneonta's Extended and Community Learning (ExCL) Center seeks a Workforce Development Coordinator to plan, coordinate, implement, administer, and continuously improve workforce development and continuing education initiatives that support regional economic development and lifelong learning.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in program management, workforce development, community engagement, nonprofit administration, training coordination, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs, projects, deadlines, and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other technology platforms used to support program administration and operations.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
• Valid driver's license at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating workforce development, continuing education, professional development, apprenticeship, certificate, customized training, and grant-funded programs that support the mission of the ExCL Center and SUNY Oneonta.
• Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with employers, workforce development agencies, government organizations, educational institutions, workforce investment partners, economic development organizations, and community stakeholders to identify workforce needs, develop responsive training solutions, and expand educational opportunities throughout the region.
• Coordinating all aspects of workforce programming, including program logistics, scheduling, facilities, technology, registration, instructional materials, purchasing, contracts, learner support services, and the recruitment and support of instructors, subject matter experts, and training partners.
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously while monitoring program quality, participant outcomes, timelines, deliverables, compliance requirements, and performance metrics; collecting and reporting data and recommending improvements to enhance program effectiveness and operational efficiency.
• Providing exceptional customer service and learner support throughout recruitment, enrollment, training participation, program completion, and credential attainment while utilizing student information systems, customer relationship management platforms, learning management systems, and other enterprise technologies to support program operations.
• Conducting outreach, researching workforce and labor market trends, and representing the ExCL Center and SUNY Oneonta at employer visits, workforce summits, career fairs, conferences, advisory boards, community meetings, networking events, and other activities that advance workforce development initiatives and institutional priorities.
• Performing work in a dynamic environment requiring independent judgment, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, occasional evening and weekend hours, local travel, and attendance at off-site meetings and events.

Job Description:

The Workforce Development Coordinator serves as a key member of the Extended and Community Learning (ExCL) Center team and is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of workforce development and continuing education initiatives that support regional economic development and lifelong learning.

This position serves as an ambassador for SUNY Oneonta and the ExCL Center by fostering strategic partnerships that advance workforce development, career readiness, adult education, and economic mobility throughout the region.

Requirements:

• Experience using student information systems, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, registration systems, learning management systems, or similar technologies (e.g., Banner, Slate, Salesforce).
• Knowledge of workforce development practices, labor market trends, adult learning principles, enrollment management, and regional workforce needs.
• Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
