Responsibilities

  • Contribute to departmental projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and support disciplinary processes per policies and bargaining agreements.
  • Provide consultation to supervisors and employees on employee relations matters such as performance management and policy interpretation.
  • Resolve workplace conflicts by facilitating discussions and recommending solutions with confidentiality.
  • Develop and deliver training with the CHRO on leadership and policy compliance.
  • Build processes for benefits, payroll, and recruitment administration.

Working closelywith the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you'll have theopportunity to lead or provide guidance on employee and laborrelations matters, payroll and benefits administration, performancemanagement, workplace conflict resolution, training anddevelopment, and compliance.

Duties May Include:
  • Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and performancemanagement for assigned Employee Services team members.

  • Provide consultation and guidance to supervisors and employeeson a wide range of employee relations matters such as performancemanagement, workplace concerns and policy interpretation.
  • Resolve workplace conflicts by facilitating discussions,recommending solutions, and ensuring issues are handled withfairness and confidentiality.
  • Develop and deliver training in partnership with the CHRO onleadership, employee relations, performance management, workplaceexpectations, and policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and guide processes for employment-related functions suchas benefits, payroll, and recruitment administration.
  • Exercise exceptional judgment and uphold the highest standardsof ethics, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality whenhandling sensitive and complex matters.
Salary:

$90,000 - $95,000 commensurate with experience. SUNYOneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) qualifyingemployer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offeringscan be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits. Visa sponsorship isnot available for this position.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accreditedinstitution.
  • Minimum of 6 years' progressive Human Resources experience,with at least 4 years' HR experience at the mid/high managementlevel, leading, supervising, or coordinating the work of otherhuman resources staff members.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplaceinvestigations.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Impeccable confidentiality and ethical standards.
Additional:
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, andcompliance requirements.
  • Evidence of outstanding cultural competency and workingsuccessfully with employees from varied backgrounds in theworkplace.
  • Deep experience with employee relations and sensitive workplacematters.
  • Extensive knowledge of, and ability to understand and applyemployment laws, regulations, policies, and collective bargainingagreements.
Preferred:
  • Current PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or similar HRcertification.
  • Master's degree in human resources, business administration,social sciences, labor relations, public administration, or otherrelated discipline.
  • Experience supporting payroll and/or benefitsadministration.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee related trainingprograms.
