Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) offers a workforce planning and Human Capital internship designed for college and graduate students. The program provides hands-on transit industry experience across departments like Operations, Safety, IT, Planning and General business functions, for up to 13 weeks in the summer.

Interns rotate based on major and department needs and are supervised by an executive or designee.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent; enrolled in an accredited college/university.
• Freshman completed; entering sophomore year.
• Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA.
• Intern must have favorable prior summer performance (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Compile, review and analyze data; input and correct data for reports.
• Research data and assist in preparing management, operations, technical and administrative reports.
• Produce work products such as reports, presentations and data visuals for assigned department.
• Review reports to identify problems and propose solutions as instructed.
• Attend training sessions and departmental meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Participate in and/or lead departmental meetings and working sessions.
