Job summary

Front Range Community College seeks a Professional Tech Software Developer to translate business requirements into secure, scalable systems, and to implement automated workflows across campus operations. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, IT, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of software development experience with system integrations, APIs, cloud technologies, or business process automation.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and documenting processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, test, implement, and maintain software solutions that support college’s workflow processes, integrating with enterprise systems, databases, cloud platforms, and institutional technology (ERP, HR, CRM SIS, APIs).
  • Design dynamic forms and automated workflows, validations, conditional logic, calculations, approvals, notifications, escalations, and document routing, to improve business processes and enhance employee and student experiences.
  • Manage the full software development lifecycle: development, testing, deployment, documentation, and maintenance, including user acceptance testing (UAT) and issue resolution.
  • Develop reusable components, templates, and standards that support scalable institution-wide solutions.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and production support for workflow automation platforms, forms management systems, dashboard, and operational tools, ensuring reliability, performance, and business continuity.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure solutions comply with institutional security standards, data governance, accessibility regulations (ADA), FERPA, and applicable technology policies.
  • Implement appropriate security controls, permissions, and access management practices.
  • Recommend technology solutions and best practices aligned with business needs, and support the college’s broader process improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Process Manager and departmental stakeholders to translate documented business processes and workflow requirements into technical solutions, including requirements gathering and solution validation.
  • Analyze existing systems and workflows to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and enhanced service delivery; assist departments in evaluating technology requests.
  • Support audits, reviews, and security assessments and contribute to annual reporting on automation outcomes, efficiencies, and return on investment.
  • Conduct current-state and future-state process analyses to identify opportunities for efficiency, standardization, automation, risk reduction, enhanced customer service, and performance outcomes.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs; develop reports and dashboards that demonstrate process improvement results and ROI.
  • Present recommendations, findings, and project outcomes to executive leadership and governance groups.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and system diagrams for applications, workflows and integrations, following documentation and version control standards and system configurations.
  • Support records retention and audit requirements, and institutional knowledge transfer for sustainability of technology solutions.
  • Designs, develops, tests, implements, troubleshoots, and maintains software applications, integrations, and automation solutions.
  • Applies software development best practices, including coding standards, version control, and documentation.
  • Analyzes technical requirements and translates them into effective software solutions.
  • Uses logical and analytical thinking to diagnose technical issues and develop sustainable solutions.
  • Anticipates potential risks and system impacts when designing or modifying applications.
  • Balances short-term operational needs with long-term maintainability and scalability solutions.
  • Maintains accurate technical documentation and development records.
  • Demonstrates accountability for project deliverables and ongoing system support.
  • Takes initiative to address technical challenges and process improvement opportunities.
  • Provides recommendations and technical guidance.
  • Promotes continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Communicates technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
