Job description

This position is primarily involved in work in the computer field performing systems analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, or modification of workflow systems or programs. The position exercises discretion and judgment.

The Specialist I has a depth of knowledge within a designated Information Technology (IT) area of responsibility that is applied to diverse assignments. This position may collaborate with customers, vendors, industry consultants, and management to drive results. This role supports workflow-related IT projects and may guide and share knowledge with other IT staff.

Basic Job Requirements
  • Assess requests related to workflows.
  • Produce and maintain accurate diagrams and requirements documentation related to workflow requests and effectively communicate business needs to customers or requestors.
  • Develop, configure, enhance, and support business workflows while working within change management processes.
  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to understand project requirements and contribute to the alignment of software solutions with organizational goals.
  • Assist in various aspects of workflow software projects, including design, testing, and deployment, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach, addressing user needs and ensuring software solutions meet end-user requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and coding of enterprise-level software applications.
  • Participate with cross-functional team members in issue identification, process impact analysis, and solution development discussions to optimize end-to-end solutions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages, frameworks, and tools relevant to enterprise application development.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing updates on project progress, escalating complex problems when necessary, and seeking guidance as needed.
  • Maintain documentation related to software development, including coding standards, procedures, and user manuals.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance software applications.
  • Participate in training programs and knowledge-sharing activities to enhance individual and team expertise.
  • Promote and support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) principles across employees and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and regulations, including data privacy and cybersecurity standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and organizational standards.
  • Adhere to and support health, safety, environmental, and sustainability policies.
  • Effectively develop and apply core skills required for the role.
  • May be required to travel for business-related purposes.
  • Meet expectations regarding attendance and punctuality.
  • Experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) environments is preferred.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Understand IT practices, support strategic initiatives, and align with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with application owners on IT-driven changes.
  • Support adherence to IT strategies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Oversee scope, schedules, and interfaces with IT teams.
  • Review project objectives and propose cost-effective alternatives.
  • Analyze complex processes, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend solutions.
  • Define, analyze, develop, and document new systems and programs to meet business needs.
  • Support and maintain multiple applications within a functional area.
  • Execute project tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Coordinate software and hardware installation, deployment, and upgrades.
  • Demonstrate and continuously expand knowledge of IT best practices.
  • Assist in guiding customer requests for new solutions or system enhancements.
  • Document requirements and obtain customer approval for development efforts.
  • Assist with special project-related issues as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Accredited four-year degree or equivalent in a relevant field and five years of related experience, or a combination of education and directly related experience totaling nine years.
  • Experience in the development and deployment of complex workflows for large-scale projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Strong technical knowledge relevant to the role.
  • Ability to learn and apply applicable local, state/provincial, and federal/national regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a time-sensitive environment.
