Initial focus is on medical-only claims with progression to low-complexity indemnity claims; a license in required jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; six years’ experience adjudicating medical-only claims or in insurance/healthcare preferred; a bachelor’s degree can substitute 5 of the 6 years.
• Must understand how an insurance company works and how this role impacts profitability.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
• Strong time management and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Investigate claims by interviewing injured workers, employers, medical providers and others to determine compensability and subrogation potential.
• Manage medical-only claims, including Federal and State Black Lung claims with benefits approved by the Department of Labor.
• Set reserves, deny non-compensable claims, and ensure timely and accurate medical payments.
• Maintain thorough documentation and timely communication with all claim stakeholders.
