Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Claims Specialist to manage an assigned caseload of routine to moderately complex claims from investigation through resolution. You will decide liability/compensability, evaluate losses, and negotiate settlements while interacting with claimants, policyholders, appraisers, attorneys, and other third parties.

Training is provided with a focus on delivering exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 1 year claims handling experience.
• Knowledge of legal liability, insurance coverage and medical terminology preferred.
• Licensing may be required in some states.

Responsibilities

• Manages an inventory of claims to evaluate compensability/liability.
• Establishes action plans based on case facts, resources and regulations.
• Plans and conducts investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability and damages.
• Assesses policy coverage, notifies insured of issues, and sets reserves as needed.
• Assesses damages and negotiates settlements within authority.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
