Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is seeking a Workers' Compensation Claims Assistant to support our Claims Professionals in administering benefits to injured workers. The role emphasizes timely, accurate processing and adherence to company guidelines, with on-the-job training and escalation to management as needed.

You will coordinate documentation, review daily diary instructions, set up new claims, gather wage information, and schedule medical evaluations or vendor services.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and able to learn databases and vendor software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Customer-focused and responsive to requests.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate service of documentation for litigated claims, prepare index and cover letters, ensure proper redaction and service completion.
• Review and prioritize daily diary instructions (payments, regulatory notices).
• Generate new claim set-up notifications and gather wage information as needed.
• Assist with scheduling medical evaluations and obtain updates on disability status post-appointment.
• Schedule vendors for transportation, translation, and subpoena services.
• Submit internal service requests with required documentation (e.g., checks, stop payments).
• Provide coverage of reception desk as needed.
