Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is seeking an experienced workers' compensation adjuster to manage a caseload from inception to resolution. You will investigate claims, determine compensability, and coordinate medical care, while maintaining high service levels for insureds.

The role requires three years of indemnity adjusting in workers' compensation, California-specific designation, and strong collaboration with internal teams. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• California Claims Adjuster designation per California Code of Regulations; Self-Insured certification a plus.
• Minimum of three years indemnity adjusting experience handling workers' compensation claims.

Responsibilities

• Investigates reported claims via three-point contact calls to determine coverage, compensability, and severity.
• Calculates reserves and ensures adjustments per guidelines.
• Administers benefits with timely notices and filings per statutory requirements.
• Develops and updates action plans for resolution; updates as new information arises.
• Makes timely, sound decisions and escalates issues per policy and law.
• Coordinates actions of attorneys, nurse case managers, and investigators to resolve claims.
• Assigns tasks to staff and ensures accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepares settlement referrals and negotiates settlements within authority.
• Maintains strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
• Communicates effectively with clients, medical providers, and injured workers.
• collaborates on process-improvement projects.
