Job Description

The Worker’s Compensation Billing Specialist will be part of the bill review team, focusing on managing the backlog of appeals. The role involves accurate and timely review, processing, and payment of bills, including pre-coding accuracy and adjudication of appeals and provider reconsideration requests.

• Examines and adjudicates requests for appeals, reconsiderations, re-evaluations, and corrected bills.
• Maintains knowledge of industry-standard medical coding initiatives, state-specific fee schedules, and coding guidelines.
• Meets or exceeds department standards for accuracy and turnaround time.
• Understands all variations of Workers' Compensation state rules and regulations.
• Knows all available re-pricing options (e.g., PPOs, direct contracts) and applies them during adjudication.
• Monitors itemized billings for excessive charges, duplications, and proper coding.
• Reviews and processes appeals, initiates refund requests, and assists in recoupment.
• Prepares bills research reports.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility for benefits depends on job classification and employment length. Benefits may include:
