Job summary

Horizontal Talent is seeking an experienced Workday HCM specialist for a 4-month contract in Minneapolis. You will partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, configure, test, and deliver Core HCM capabilities within Workday, focusing on HR processes and scalable solutions.

Join an agile product team, collaborating with executives and cross-functional partners to support release planning and successful delivery while applying HR knowledge, payroll, and benefits expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information systems, computer engineering, human resources, or related field.
• 5+ years Workday experience, with Core HCM and payroll knowledge.
• Experience gathering requirements, designing solutions, prototyping, and testing Workday Core HCM functionality.
• Strong understanding of HR functions and business rules, including payroll, compensation, recruiting, staffing, and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders and product teams to gather, refine, and document Workday HCM requirements.
• Support the configuration, enhancement, and optimization of Core HCM capabilities within Workday.
• Translate business needs into functional solution designs that align with product goals and scalable processes.
• Participate in and facilitate discussions focused on workflow automation, business process improvements, and rule development.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing, including issue tracking, validation, and defect resolution support before release.
• Collaborate with executive-level employees, product owners, and cross-functional partners to support successful delivery.
• Provide functional guidance related to the Workday Business Process Framework.
• Help manage release planning, product planning, and delivery expectations in an Agile environment.

Join an agile HR product team supporting the design, configuration, testing, and delivery of Workday HCM solutions that improve employee and stakeholder experiences. Preferred Skills

• Experience with global Workday configuration.
• Knowledge of offer letter setup, job requisitions, and dynamic job application process configuration.
• Experience supporting complex analysis of current and future product needs.
• Familiarity with Workday, Jira, and broader HR technology ecosystems.
• Ability to evaluate tools or vendors and support automation initiatives.
• Experience configuring workflows and business rules in complex environments.
• Comfort recommending process or technical improvements.
• Working knowledge of desktop technology, Microsoft Office, and Windows infrastructure.
• Awareness of cloud security considerations and potential vulnerabilities.
