Job summary

Zeal Solutions Inc. is seeking a Workday Extend & Integration Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain custom Workday Extend applications and enterprise integrations across HCM and Financial Management ecosystems.

You will leverage Workday Extend, Workday Studio, EIBs, and REST/SOAP APIs to deliver tailored experiences, automate workflows, and bridge custom business logic within Workday UI. The role requires hands-on experience and strong knowledge of Workday tooling.

Job Description: Workday Extend & Integration Engineer

Position Overview

The Workday Extend & Integration Engineer will design, develop, deploy, and maintain custom applications and enterprise integrations across our Workday HCM and Financial Management ecosystem.

In this role, you will leverage Workday Extend (App Builder, Page Builder, and Orchestration Builder) alongside core integration technologies (Workday Studio, EIBs, REST/SOAP APIs, and WQL) to deliver tailored user experiences, automate multi-system transactional workflows, and bridge custom business logic directly within the Workday user interface.

Key Responsibilities

1. Workday Extend Application Development

• Architect and implement custom applications within Workday using Workday App Builder / Page Builder, Presentation components, and custom business objects (MDS - Model Definition Service).
• Build synchronous and asynchronous transactional workflows using Orchestration Builder (Workday Orchestrate) to connect UI events to backend services.
• Extend core HCM and Financial data structures with custom objects, fields, and relationships while safeguarding data integrity.
• Configure security policies, domain restrictions, and role-based permissions specific to Extend apps and custom data objects.

2. Enterprise Integrations & Orchestration

• Develop, monitor, and optimize complex inbound and outbound integrations using Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, and Document Transformation (XSLT).
• Utilize Workday Query Language (WQL) and Workday REST / SOAP APIs for efficient, targeted data extraction and real-time synchronization.
• Connect Workday seamlessly with third-party enterprise platforms (e.g., banking/payment gateways, ERPs, procurement systems, CRM, and cloud data warehouses).
• Determine architectural boundaries between Orchestrations (lightweight, real-time UI/API workflows) and Workday Studio (heavy data transformations, large batch processing, and complex error handling).

3. Maintenance, Governance & Release Support

• Manage end-to-end SDLC processes, tenant migrations, and deployments using Workday Object Transporter (WOT) or Solutions packaging.
• Perform impact analysis, regression testing, and remediation for Workday’s semi-annual feature releases (R1/R2) across custom Extend apps and integrations.
• Troubleshoot runtime errors, log diagnostics, memory/payload limitations, and API rate limits.
• Maintain comprehensive technical design documentation, interface control documents (ICDs), and architecture runbooks.

Workday Functional Breadth

• Solid understanding of core Workday HCM (Core HR, Compensation, Absence) and Workday Financial Management (Procurement, Financial Accounting, Expenses, or Invoicing).

Integration Toolkit

• Demonstrated proficiency in Workday Studio, EIBs, BIRT reporting, and Connectors.
• Strong knowledge of XSLT, XPath, XML, JSON, and REST/SOAP web services.
• Practical experience writing WQL (Workday Query Language) queries.

• Proficiency with Advanced & Matrix Reporting, Calculated Fields, and Workday Domain/BP Security configuration.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Workday Pro Certifications: Workday Pro – Extend, Workday Pro – Integrations, or Workday Studio.
• Experience with Workday AI Gateway services, Developer Copilot, or external iPaaS solutions (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Workato).
• Familiarity with enterprise data warehousing synchronization (Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Data Lake).
