Qualifications

• Laboratory Preparation and Technical Skills—prepare lab materials, equipment and supplies for instructional labs in Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science.
• Laboratory Safety and Compliance—understand and apply lab safety standards and procedures.
• Inventory Management and Organization—organize storage areas, monitor stock levels, label and rotate supplies.

Laboratory Preparation andTechnical Skills

The student will develop theability to accurately prepare laboratory materials, equipment and supplies forinstructional labs in Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science. Outcomes: Preparelab materials according to instructor protocols and preparation sheets. Demonstrateproper handling of scientific equipment, specimens and chemicals. Maintainorganization and readiness of teaching laboratories. Follow setup and breakdownprocedures efficiently and accurately. Wash glassware. Support timelypreparation for multiple lab sections and disciplines.

Laboratory Safety andCompliance

The student will demonstrateunderstanding and application of laboratory safety standards and institutionalsafety procedures. Outcomes: Identify and follow chemical safety protocols.Properly use personal protective equipment such as gloves and goggles.Demonstrate safe handling and disposal of chemicals and glassware. Understandemergency procedures, spill response and incident reporting. Maintain compliancewith laboratory safety requirements.

Inventory Management andOrganization

The student will developorganizational and inventory management skills necessary for laboratoryoperations. Outcomes: Organize laboratory storage areas and stockroomsefficiently. Monitor inventory levels and identify low stock items. Assist withlabeling, stocking and rotating supplies. Maintain accurate inventory records.Demonstrate proper storage procedures for chemicals and equipment.

Professionalism and WorkplaceReadiness

The student will developtransferable professional skills applicable to scientific and technical workenvironments. Outcomes: Demonstrate reliability, punctuality andaccountability. Communicate effectively with faculty, staff and peers. Followverbal and written instructions accurately. Manage time effectively whilebalancing multiple assignments. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism inan academic setting. Work independently while also functioning as part of alaboratory support team.
