Job summary

Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, WY, is seeking a Workstation Technician to support staff at local and remote locations with desktop hardware and software issues. You will install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripherals, and work with Help Desk and Network Operations to resolve problems.

The role requires an Associate’s degree in MIS/CS or related field, plus experience with Windows operating systems, hardware repairs, and software deployments; A+ or MCSE is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in MIS/CS or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware issues on desktops and laptops.
  • Experience installing software/patches on desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, and printing problems.
  • A+ or MCSE preferred.
  • Five years of experience supporting Windows OS and desktop/laptop PCs.

Responsibilities

  • Highly visible member of the Information Systems Team and supports staff with technical issues.
  • Provide desktop/workstation support including hardware/software installation and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices; use remote tools for support.
  • Collaborate with Help Desk and Network Operations to diagnose problems and procure hardware/software.
  • Assist procurement in acquiring hardware and software and document tasks as required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Information Systems Department is dedicated to making information quickly and easily available to facilitate health care providers in giving the highest quality care. As a part of the Information Systems team, the Workstation Technician assists staff at local and remote locations with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. Support includes installation and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established guidelines. This position must be able to capture and understand reported issues and independently identify proper solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Highly Visible member of the Information Systems Team.
  • Leads with Humility while putting customer service first.
  • Maintains Workstation Hardware Inventory
  • Works with Help Desk and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from users.
  • Independently performs a variety of computer systems administration and support tasks, including the following: Desktop and workstation support, PC hardware and software troubleshooting, hardware/software installation, utilize remote maintenance tools to solve first and second-level technical support calls, may include low-to-mid level network and application administration functions.
  • Assist staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, and software.
  • Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
  • Performs a variety of project tasks and requires good communications skills with the ability to work with users diplomatically and skillfully.
  • Works with procurement staff to purchase hardware and software.
  • Other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Education / Experience / License and Certifications
  • An Associate’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science or a related field, preferably supplemental by advanced course work in MIS; or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs.
  • Experience installing software, patches, updates on Desktops, Laptops, and Servers.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, printing problems.
  • Qualifications: The ideal candidate would require the following qualifications: A+ or MCSE
  • Five years of experience supporting Window Operating Systems and desktop/laptop PCs.
Additional Skills
  • Ability to communicate in English; both verbally and in writing
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access expected
  • Efficient use of MHSC help desk application is required
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Customer Service Experience, required.

Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required.
