Job summary

Commonpoint is seeking a Coordinator, Work-Based Learning, at North Queens Community High School to lead a work-based learning program, develop internship opportunities, and support students' academic and career success.

You will supervise a team of youth development specialists, coordinate with schools and employers, deliver college readiness and career exploration workshops, and monitor progress to ensure positive outcomes for urban youth in Queens and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least three (3) years' experience working with adolescents in an urban environment, reducing barriers and supporting educational and social-emotional well-being.
• At least three (3) years' experience supervising and developing a team of youth development specialists.
• Demonstrated ability to establish strong rapport with urban adolescent populations and families.
• Familiarity with test prep and social-emotional learning curricula.
• Familiarity with NYS high school graduation requirements and college application/financial aid processes.
• Bilingual strongly preferred.
• SIFI certification/eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish rapport with all program participants at North Queens Community High School.
• Build and maintain supportive relationships to promote engagement and success.
• Cultivate meaningful work experiences aligned with participants' career goals and objectives.
• Maintain positive working relationships with workplace personnel for internship oversight.
• Facilitate workshops on college readiness, career exploration, and life skills.
• Monitor attendance, academic progress, participation, and outcomes, implementing interventions as needed.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with employers to secure internships and employment opportunities.
• Recruit and manage employer relationships across the New York metropolitan area to expand opportunities.
• Assess student interests, skills, and qualifications to match opportunities.
• Prepare students for workforce success through resume reviews and interview coaching.
• Coordinate internship and placement processes including referrals, interviews, onboarding, and documentation.
• Conduct home visits for students with chronic absenteeism to identify barriers and connect with supports.
• Monitor progress through site visits and follow-ups.
• Maintain participant records, case notes, and employment outcomes in databases.
• Collaborate with staff, schools, and employers to address barriers to employment and ensure retention.
• Facilitate workshops and career development activities.
• Prepare and submit required reports and data.
