Job summary

Chapel Haven Schleifer Center Inc. in New Haven, CT seeks a Work-Based Learning Specialist to support student training and development in work-based programs.

The role focuses on job coaching, classroom instruction, and progress reporting at community sites such as Yale New Haven Health and CVS, with a 10-month internship framework. Responsibilities include delivering on-site instruction, maintaining program timelines, and building relationships with employers to expand opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Experience with people with cognitive disabilities and autism.
• Experience in retail or food service settings.
• Some classroom instruction experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and coaching in classroom and at work sites.
• Establish and follow program calendar to ensure work-based learning is executed on time.
• Instruct students on communication, problem solving, interview skills, and self-advocacy.
• Regularly update curriculum to ensure instruction is current and relevant.
• Provide feedback on student progress to teachers, families, and staff.
• Develop employer relationships to identify new on-site learning opportunities and partnerships.
