About the Role
The purpose of the Senior WordPress Developer role is to:
- Lead the technical development and architecture of client digital experiences using Bricks Builder and ACF Pro
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code) to accelerate delivery and maintain code quality at scale
- Mentor junior developers and establish development standards across the team
- Transform complex design concepts into modular, maintainable, high-performance websites
- Drive continuous improvement in development workflows, site performance, and technical capabilities
- Serve as the technical authority for WordPress architecture decisions, troubleshooting, and optimization
Responsibilities
- Build reusable component libraries, custom blocks, and dynamic templates that scale across client sites
- Develop advanced ACF field groups, flexible content layouts, and custom post type architectures
- Utilize Claude Code and AI-assisted development to accelerate coding, debugging, and documentation
- Technical Leadership
- Establish and enforce coding standards, development workflows, and documentation practices
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers
- Evaluate and implement new tools, plugins, and technologies that improve team efficiency
- Lead technical discovery and scoping for new client projects
- Performance & Optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex front-end/back-end bugs and performance bottlenecks
- Optimize site performance to exceed Core Web Vitals benchmarks
- Implement advanced caching strategies, database optimization, and asset delivery improvements
- Ensure websites meet accessibility (WCAG) and SEO technical requirements
- Integration & Infrastructure
- Implement tracking scripts, analytics tools, conversion pixels, and marketing automation integrations
- Manage hosting environments, staging workflows, DNS configurations, and site migrations
- Maintain version control using Git with proper branching strategies and deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and strategists to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Support & Maintenance
- Respond to and resolve escalated development support tickets and critical bugs
- Oversee plugin updates, security patches, and WordPress core maintenance
- Document technical processes, custom functionality, and client-specific configurations
- Take ownership of projects from technical scoping through deployment and optimization
- Deliver clean, documented, modular, and scalable code that other developers can maintain
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve site performance, workflows, and team capabilities
- Stay current with WordPress ecosystem developments, Bricks Builder updates, ACF best practices, and AI development tools
- Respond promptly to critical issues while maintaining focus on strategic development priorities
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical team members and clients

Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years WordPress development experience
- Expert-level proficiency with Bricks Builder and ACF Pro
- Experience with Git version control and deployment workflows
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code preferred)
- Understanding of REST APIs, custom post types, and WordPress architecture
- Track record of delivering high-performance, accessible websites
