Job summary

Rockler in Novi, MI is seeking a part-time Retail Sales Associate to provide prompt customer service, explain and demonstrate woodworking products, and drive sales on the shop floor. You’ll maintain clean, stocked displays and process refunds or exchanges as needed.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of woodworking, prior retail experience, and a strong service orientation. This role requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school graduate or GED.
• Knowledge of woodworking and hand tools required.
• Previous retail sales experience desirable.
• Ability to understand the nature of customers’ requests and how best to respond to their needs.
• Ability to understand situations where a return or refund of merchandise can be authorized.
• Requires an extremely strong service orientation to maximize customer satisfaction.
• Ability to be a team player, outgoing, approachable, and congenial when dealing with both customers and other associates.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, personally lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and participate in team lifting.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers as they enter the stores and acknowledges them promptly.
• Handles all aspects of retail sales by answering questions and ringing sales on the POS.
• Emphasizes the Total solution by showing related products and services for the project.
• Assists with maintenance and merchandising to keep displays neat and stocked.
• Handles refunds and prepares necessary documentation per procedures.
• Refs customers to other sources if item is unavailable to build goodwill.
• May assist with unloading trucks, pricing and merchandising or other duties.
• Attendance is essential; be present for scheduled shifts.
