Job summary

SS Industries LLC in Collegeville, PA is seeking a Woodshop Associate for a full-time role in our woodworking shop. You will cut, glue, finish, and build wooden stair parts from blanks, while ensuring quality and safety standards.

You will read blueprints, identify wood species, thickness, and grain, and operate table saws, shapers, planers, routers, and other power tools to meet production targets. A minimum of 2 years in carpentry/woodworking is required; related certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Cut, glue, build, and finish wood stair parts.
• Read blueprints and build layouts.
• Identify wood species, thickness, grain, and mill quality.
• Work with team members to meet production targets and resolve obstacles.
• Read a tape measure to the 1/16” and ensure accurate cuts.
• Set up and operate machinery: table saws, chop saws, shaper, planer, drill presses, routers, and other power tools.
• Maintain proper housekeeping in the workstation.
• Assist other machines and departments as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Woodshop Associate is responsible for including but not limited to cutting, gluing, finishing, and building stair components from wood blanks. They are responsible for material handling including loading and unloading of material for their equipment. The Woodshop Associate is responsible for producing product at the highest quality and working with team members to meet production targets safely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cut, glue, build, and finish wood stair parts
• Basic understanding of blueprint drawings and build layouts
• Material identification – wood species, thickness, grain, and mill quality
• Work with team members to creatively build orders and resolve obstacles
• Ability to read tape measure to the 1/16”
• Knowledge and understanding of proper cut quality
• Setup and operate machinery: table saws, chop saws, shaper, planer, drill presses, routers, other power tools, and other hand tools
• Ensure proper housekeeping
• Assist at other machines within the department as needed
• Assist in other departments in the plant as needed
