Job summary

PRO EM in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an entry-level welder/woodworker to support construction and repair projects in a wood shop or field setting.

You will collaborate with the Wood Shop Supervisor to design and fabricate parts, select materials, and produce Build of Materials Cut Sheets for custom items, ensuring safety with proper PPE and adherence to OSHA rules.

Qualifications

• Entry level welding with Mild Steel and MIG.
• Entry level woodworking: create, repair, build.
• Ability to use skills in other trades such as plumbing, painting and tiling.
• Ability to understand and execute a wide variety of construction instructions, 2D and 3D.
• Able to read a tape measure.
• Must be able to lift 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Keep work area clean and organized following OSHA policies during use and movement of power, heavy equipment.
• Maintain repair shop tools and assist others on proper usage.
• Understand the warehouse, departments, management and logistics practice.
• Match building materials to use and space for accurate installation; prepare and cut components.
• Weld components in flat, vertical and overhead positions.
• Create BOM/Build of Materials Cut Sheet for custom items from supervisor templates.

Job description

This position works with building materials in wood shop or in construction setting. Works cooperatively with the Wood Shop Supervisor, collaborating on practical cost-effective solutions for building creation, repair and maintenance wood fabrication, plan design/engineer, devise method of assembly, and with a template created by Supervisor, create a Build of Materials Cut Sheet (BOM) for all custom items requested. All labor requires appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities:

• Keep work area clean and organized following all OSHA policies and procedures during the use and movement of power, heavy and industrial equipment.
• Maintain repair shop tools and assist associates on the proper way to use them.
• Possess a general understanding of the warehouse, it’s departments, department management and logistical practice.
• Matches building materials to use and space for installation accuracy. Preparing, laying out, cutting and fabricating metal components.
• Welding components in a flat, vertical and overhead position.
• Creates materials that fit expectations, working from technical engineering drawings if necessary.
• Help keep repair practical, cost effective and lasting.

Requirements:

• Entry level experience welding with Mild Steel and Metal Inert Gas-MIG
• Entry level experience in woodwork -, create, repair, build, etc.
• The ability to utilize skills in other trades such as plumbing, painting and tiling.
• Ability to understand and execute a wide variety of construction instructions, 2D and 3D.
• Able to read a tape measure.
• Must be able to lift 100 pounds.

Starting Pay: $16.00/hr
