Job summary

Georgetown University Medical Center, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, seeks a Research Assistant III (Laboratory Technician) to support grant-funded woodchuck studies and supervise students in sample processing and laboratory assays.

The role involves handling woodchuck samples, performing viral and immune assays (ELISA, qPCR, ELISpot, FACS), and maintaining organized data records for ongoing studies on HBV/WHV.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with laboratory experience.
• Experience with viral and host assays for HBV or other viruses.
• Ability to perform sample processing and analysis with minimal supervision.
• Willing to acquire woodchuck-specific assays.
• Follow established protocols and ensure data quality.

Responsibilities

• Process woodchuck samples (blood, serum, liver, other tissues).
• Perform viral assays for WHV and HBV, including blotting and RT-PCR.
• Conduct T-cell proliferation and ELISpot assays, and FACS-based degranulation.
• Perform RT-PCR for immune markers in blood and liver.
• Prepare ELISAs for viral proteins or antibodies.
• Organize sample records and data in spreadsheets.
