Job summary

Sonoco is hiring a Machine Operator II in Hartselle, AL for third shift. You will run machines that cut, machine, and assemble lumber to manufacture wood reels for packaging wire and cable, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.

The role requires at least 1 year of machine operating experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, and the stamina for 8-hour shifts in an open warehouse environment. Overtime may be needed; 5S knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year of machine operating experience in an industrial environment.
• Extensive knowledge of personal hand tools and their safe use.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work independently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for 8 hours.
• Overtime as needed; familiarity with 5S is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team to handle and process lumber from raw material to finished product.
• Make incremental process adjustments, monitor and report quality of products.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform duties as directed by supervisor/manager and support quality and safety policies.
• Assist other departments as needed.
