Job summary

Sonoco in Hartselle, AL is seeking a Machine Operator II for first shift (6a-2p). You will operate equipment such as saws, routers, nailers and stackers to cut, machine and assemble lumber into wood reels used for packaging wire and cable.

Reporting to the Team Lead, you will ensure safety and quality, perform process adjustments, maintain a clean workstation, and collaborate with team members in a fast-paced, non-temperature controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year of machine operating experience in an industrial environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed and read manufacturing instructions.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team to handle and process lumber from raw material to finished product.
• Make incremental process adjustments and monitor the quality of manufactured products.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform duties as designated by supervisor/manager.
• Support Sonoco’s quality and safety policies in all tasks.
• Assist other departments as needed.
