Job summary

Sonoco in Hartselle, AL is seeking a Machine Operator II - Nailed Wood for the First shift (6a-2p). Pay rate is $21.58/hr.

You will operate lumber-cutting, routing, and nailer equipment to produce wood reels used to package wire and cable, in a non-temperature controlled open warehouse environment. Responsibilities include team-based material handling, process adjustments, quality checks, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of machine operating experience in an industrial setting.
• Knowledge of using and maintaining production tools safely.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Able to read and follow manufacturing instructions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate machines for each customer’s job with attention to detail.
• Work with a team to process lumber from raw material to finished product.
• Make incremental process adjustments and monitor product quality.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Follow supervisor/manager directions and support safety policies.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Read and interpret manufacturing instructions.
